Hans Kai

Want to take control of your health, but don’t want to do it alone? Hans Kai may be the solution for you.

A Japanese style of health management, Hans Kai is based on the idea that people who spend time together monitoring their health will live longer, healthier lives.

We offer a number of Hans Kai groups to our community.

Each Hans Kai group consists of 8-15 people and is participant-led with access to members of the NorWest Co-op team if questions come up.

Before joining a group, you can attend a “Health School” to learn everything you need to know about Hans Kai and how it can help you stay healthy.

When the groups meet each person:

  • Takes and records their blood pressure, blood sugar, waist measurement and other health indicators
  • Takes part in fun movement or exercise
  • Helps prepare and share healthy snacks

If you live or work in the Inkster or Seven Oaks areas, you are eligible to participate. You may even want to start a Hans Kai group in your neighbourhood or workplace!

So join Hans Kai … You’ll feel better, you’ll have fun and you’ll make new friends – friends who will help you and support you in becoming healthy. And a bonus of the program is that it’s free!

Don’t forget to visit the Hans Kai blog. This is a place for Hans Kai members to get to know each other, talk about their experiences and share ideas. It’s also a place for people who are interested in the program to learn more and talk to people who are already taking part.
